IN LOVING MEMORY OF JIMMY "THE REV" SULLIVAN

Its almost been 2 weeks since we hit this storm of sadness! for the loss of one of my brothers for one of my dearest friends that walked this planet!. the last 2 weeks have been so hard and filled with sadness. We have all been threw a lot in our lives Im sure of that, Ive been threw hell and back in my life, losing Jimmy made me sad and hate everything around me for a bit!. until I remembered that the man you all knew as “THE REV” was the most amazing human being that this world has ever laid their eyes on. the amount of love this KID had to give out was endless. I have had the pleasure of having him in my life for all these years and I only wish there was another 20 years for more memories.. Jimmy had so many best friends I cant even begin to tell you, the best part of all of that is that its very true, he was everyones best friend he really wanted to show his love and make sure you knew he loved you. I remember about 4 years ago Jimmy flew back to Los Angeles for my birthday and we went to this show in LA called “METAL SKOOL” now called “steel panther” witch is an 80’s cover band, and I didn’t think he was gonna come BUT he did and that night I remember it was right around the time when “BAT COUNTRY” was smashing the charts and AVENGED SEVENFOLD was pretty much telling the world that METAL ISNT DEAD and they are the new kings in town. BUT that night I remember “Phil Anselmo singer of PANTERA” was there and for those of you who know about AVENGED SEVENFOLD you know they all love PANTERA and most of all The REV loves them as well, well “METAL SKOOL” is famous for calling famous bands out when they go see them! and that night Jimmy was like “there is NO way in hell Im going on stage tonight Tal! I just wanna hang with you and have a good time on your birthday” haahahahah Well they called him out and then they called Phil out as well and Jimmy was like the only way I will go on there is if we play “WALK” and surely they played that song, and I remember going on stage with Jimmy and him looking at me and screaming to me “THIS IS THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE”. I have been thinking about that night over and over and oveeeeer again in my head! there has been hundreds thousands of nights with Jimmy and I, so many story’s classics that I cant even begin to tell you guys! I have been spending time with all the guys and they are all so strong we have all been telling each other story’s about THE REV and how he touched all of our hearts, We will never EVER have another Jimmy Sullivan he was to good. It was an Honer to have known you my friend you are forever my brother and I will never forget the good times you gave me “Pictures and Memories”….
“DEAR GOD THE ONLY THING I ASK OF YOU IS TO HOLD HIM WHEN WERE NOT AROUND AND WERE MUCH TO FAR AWAY!!!!!!”REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER..

That was so sweet. I teared up a little bit; which is progress because any time I read a testimonial about Jimmy, I always end up crying still.
Two weeks, man. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. A huge source of happiness and smiles was taken from us, and there will never be another like Jimmy Sullivan.
Always the best friend, always the one to listen to someone when they needed him, and always the one to make everyone laugh by saying just one or two words.
Never, will there ever be another man, or PERSON, like Jimmy.
I know the guys have the strength and a strong friendship with each other to get through this, as well asall of the fans.
RIP Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan

Im just so thankful we had him in our lives, despite the fact the time was to short. Thank god the guys are okay, Ive been so worried about everyone that was close to him like you were Tal. I needed this peace of mind, knowing we will get through this & everyone is hanging in there. Thank you, I love you all <3
Oh My….
That was a very touching post! I was not the biggest fan of A7X but i did get very sad about The Rev’s death… My brother is a truely fan and he is a lot in pain and still do not believe, so i cant even imagine how you and all of the closest people to him are right now. My greatest thoughts go out to you guys. Jimmy was a great guy, i know, and now even more seeing how much loved he was and still is from so many people! Stay strong Tal! I’m pretty sure he is in a better place now, watching over you and all the people he loves and smiling down on you all.
Rest In Paradise Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan.
Those words are amazing Tal we hope you guys are ok and that the A7X boys are doing well.

I thought I could handle it, but nope, i got teary-eyed as well. There are soo many things I would like to say but there’s just way too much to just choose one to write about. My heart goes out to all who were lucky enough to have known Jimmy.
May he rest in peace and may Tal sleep with ease..even though he is the man that never sleeps.
As for Avenged Sevenfold, it will never be the same without the talent of The Rev.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy and hanging out with Jimmy quite a few times in the past few years, and I am SO thankful for all the memories that I have to remember with him. He was without a doubt the BEST drummer of my lifetime, and he was, like you said, an amazing person. It’s true what they say, only the good die young. May he rest in peace, and Lord knows he will NEVER be forgotten. I’m sure that I, as well as all the other A7X fans out there, when we have kids, our kids will know who Jimmy and Avenged Sevenfold are, they will listen to this band, and they will know that Jimmy was amazing, and he still lives through each and every one of us who play those records every single day.
I luv all you guys especially Jimmy RIP brother :-(

well hear goes another that i never that really wanted to.what can i say.sorry to say this but its true and i of course still and will listen to avenged sevenfold but i will miss the way how jimmy “the rev” sullivan played the ddrums.people say travis barker is the best drummer he is good drummer but not the best or awesome drummer, but there is one person that has both of those and its Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. i couldnt cry in front of my sister so we went to bed and i started to cry.in the 8th grade i wanted to get eyeglass with fake lens for i could be like him. i never got them. i still cant take it in that he died and hers the thing that day my family and were leaving vegas during the after and thats when Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan died.i was going to go to vegas on the 15th of january and i was hopimg i would see him.and i always hope to see him there, now i am never going to see him ever again.that minuses one of my goals in my life.when i found out i started to sing dear god and the part u wrote tal was singing the same thing that u wrote up there.and my sister ani is right. what she wrote up there is true it will never be the same.i told my sister oh there is no more avenged sevenfold and she said there is still avenged sevenfold and i said ya i now that but not the same drummer there might be new songs but not the smae drummer for how long 10 years. im wondering and i think other people are wondering the same thing are u getting a new drummer?????????????????
he felt like family to me i dont know him but in the pictures and videos it did feel like he was a family member. and i wrote the same thing for matt from it boys he felt like a brother to me but why noot have more older brothers.
rest in peace brother.
fan since the begining of 2007

Thank you Tal for sharing your private memory with us. It means so much to all of us fans. Jimmy always treated us with the utmost kindness everytime we were bless with his presents even when it was just for a few seconds. When he signed my arm that I later had inked he asked if he could go on top. I told him whereever he liked was fine with me. He said awesome Shads always gets the top spot and I’m tired of it. Then he laughed as only Jimmy could laugh. I will always remember that night as so special.
A7X 4 life!

Tal – your words are so personal and so heartfelt. Thank you for sharing.
That post managed to make me cry, again, even though I promised myself I’d try not to.
Please send our regards to the other guys, if you can – we’re all thinking of them (and you, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him).
The Rev really was one in a million and he’ll be missed by all.
Unexpectedly losing a brother is so hard, especially at such a major time of year… I’ve been there. I hope you all gain strength from each other, the memories and the love people felt for him.
I put a message to Zacky, on Twitter, that I wish to share with you: ‘It sucks, but now he’ll ALWAYS be young, good looking, talented and legendary – The smiles he brought you will keep you strong. x’
Take care of yourselves.

Rest in Paradise, Jimmy.

(P.S.; For those asking what will happen to the band – please have some respect, let them grieve and give them time to make that decision themselves when they’re ready. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be… no matter how long it takes. Right now, they just need our love, support and understanding. x )
This post touched my heart in a way that made it ache and throb as he remembered how Jimmy was happy as a human being loved and loving, left us so young, upset with the injustice of fate. I think it could have saved Jimmy and prevented this tragedy happened and leave so many broken hearts and brought our FUCKING DRUMMER though … But I could not… Was too far away to save Him and it hurts me immensely. Every night I ask to heaven for Jimmy is in a better place than us, in a true Little Piece Of Heaven and that wherever He is, keep doing the mischief that He did in life and made us laugh so much. I ask for Him to know that we love Him very much, beyond life, beyond death, beyond everything and more that he’s away from us, in our hearts there is a lack, emptiness, longing, and most of all the memory of our great and eternal The Reverend that never, never die. <3
Well… Rest in peace, Jimmy. I, we all love you very much forever and always, and that pain will never go away.
FORCE, PEOPLE!
The Rev’s death is something I still can’t get my head around, from the moment I read the news, how does this sort of thing happen?, why did this happen to someone so young?.
I remember watching Avenged Sevenfold’s video for ‘Almost Easy’ on this very site when it was just released, and when I found out that the shirt The Rev was wearing in the clip was a DCMA shirt, I had to have it!.
I wore that shirt to the Avenged Sevenfold show in Perth 2008. I think of him every time I look at the shirt.
I feel very privileged to have seen him play, he can’t be replaced.
RIP
you made me fuckin cry…
to write something like that was really sweet of you. he was amazing and we’ll all miss him really much!
stay strong

I have to ask, did Jimmy know he was going to die? because I heard he wrote a lot of the songs on the self titled album and you can hear what I guess is foreshadowing like in brompton cocktail “doc I’m dying” “ I lost my final fight to disease” or is it just coincidence.
R.I.P. James. Best drummer in the world
That was way to sweet. I totally cried during it. Thank you for sharing that memory. He will forever be in our hearts and never forgotten. RIP James Owen Sullivan.
